Knights Templar Sword

In Freemasonry, the use of the sword as a part of the Masonic clothing is confined to the advanced degrees and the Degrees of Chivalry, when, of course it is worn as a part of the insignia of knighthood. In the Symbolic Degrees its appearance in the Lodge, except as a symbol is strictly prohibited. The Masonic prints engraved in the eighteenth century, when the sword,

at least as late as 1780, constituted a part of the dress of every gentleman, show that it was discarded by the members when they entered the Lodge. The official swords of the Tiler and the Pursuivant or Sword-Bearer are the only exceptions.

You see, unlike most people in my generation I am woefully Internet a literate. I could never get my profile to look just like I wanted, and it seemed to be having a negative effect on my attempt to meet attractive Christian singles. I started to despair of my chances.

The church I go to is a good church, but it is also a pretty old church. There are few or no Christian singles at any time, and it is extremely hard to meet someone there. I used to go on speed dates when I was an atheist, but since I converted I hadn't been on any.

I had figured that there was no such thing as Christian speed dating. Fortunately, I was wrong.

Basically, Christian speed dating is just like any other kind of speed dating. The main difference is that everyone there is Christian. If you are someone who religion is very important to, this is crucial.

I could've gone to a normal speed dating place, but I probably would have been confronted with a whole room full of nonbelievers. It would have been very hard to meet someone since only a few of the people there would have been Christian. By going on Christian speed dates, I knew that I had a lot more chance of meeting Mrs. right.

Although I was very excited when I found out about the Christian speed dating, my first attempt was kind of unsuccessful. I think I just got my hopes up too high, and so was bound to be disappointed when I got there. I met a few women there, but none seemed quite right.

I went out a couple dates after that, but none of them worked out. I knew I had to give it another go.

This time, I went all out. I made sure that I was extremely presentable, cut my hair, shaved, and bought some beautiful new clothes. I know that you aren't supposed to judge people by appearances, but everyone does to some degree. I figure that my Christian speed dating would be a lot more successful if I looked the part.

I have to admit, I'm pretty sure I turned some heads when I walked in there. A few of the women looked up and smiled at me, and I smiled back. From the moment I entered the room, I knew that this would be my opportunity to meet the woman of my dreams.

As it turned out, I only met one woman there who I really liked, but she also like me. The very next day, we went on a date together and it went really well. Six months later, we were married.

With billions of individual websites on the net, it sometimes makes sense to make use of the specialized search engines.

For example, if you're doing a research project on Christianity, whether for a school paper or just for personal studies, using a Christian search engine allows you to find specific information or resources more quickly than you might with Google or one of the other all purpose search engines.

So how do you find Christian search engines? Google it, of course!

The databases of the Christian search engines index all things pertaining to Christianity. Think of it as searching a 1000 page index for what you're looking for, instead of a 1,000,000 page index. It's easy to see that your search will be much faster and that each entry has some relevance to Christianity.

Each website is dedicated to the subject in one way or another.

Each of these Christian search engines allows you to search by keywords, such as 'forums and chat', 'prayer groups' or whatever your particular interest may be. Many list hand picked sites, where an actual human being goes searching out Christian sites they find to be of superior quality, but which might never have been noticed by the conventional type of search engine, or at best, only on page 50 of the search results!

This may be of particular value when you consider that some of the Christian websites may be operated by a Christian mission group in some far off corner of the world. The website's staff may not be at all savvy on search engine optimization, while having a wealth of material that remains in obscurity, that is, until you find them through the Christian search engine. One of the main objectives of these specialized search engines is to spread the word, using a grass roots approach.

There's no aspect of Christianity that you can't find. If you're looking for Christian music collections, youth groups, Christian parenting forums or teen chat rooms, there's no shortage. Online and downloadable Bibles, Biblical maps, concordances, Christian literature and Bible dictionaries are all available.

There are even Christian oriented job boards where you can post your resume to a targeted audience of employers. Perhaps you've relocated to another region of the country and are looking for a new church for you and your family to attend. Some of the Christian search engines build large databases, on an ongoing basis, including every church they can find, in an effort to spread the word.

You can search by denomination, location or pastor. If you're looking for news that pertains directly to Christianity, these search engines can help you. Did you know that there are listings for Christian ISPs and web hosting services? Yes, indeed.

Have you always dreamed of traveling to the Holy Land?

You'll find dozens of sites with information on planning your trip, as well as personal family websites detailing their trips and adventures, through narratives and photos. These sites can teach you much, right from the comfort of your armchair. In fact, if your budget won't allow for a real time trip, this can be a great way to make a virtual trip.

The Christian search engines have much to offer for anyone who wants to learn more about Christianity.

I first become involved in Christian ministries in 1996. To be honest, at the time I was not much of a committed Christian. I basically did it because my wife was into it.

Christian ministry was alright for me, but it wasn't anything I particularly put faith in. The Christian youth Ministry I was involved in did some good work in the community, and I supported that, but I wasn't sure about the whole God thing. I liked that they were helping to keep kids off drugs and to provide job advice for the young, but I didn't understand what any of that had to do with Jesus.

Part of it had to do with the dazzling variety of Christian ministries out there. There are people of nearly every description ministering for Christ, and some of them are more helpful than others. One Christian ministry might just preach the gospel to the converted, while another one might take trips to foreign lands, help disadvantaged people, and spread the word of Christ to folks who never would experience it otherwise.

There are Christian healing ministries, Jews for Jesus, Protestant ministries of every stripe, and even groups that don't really fit neatly into any category. Since all these people seem to believe somewhat different things, it was hard for me to believe that Christ was at the center of it.

That all changed when I had a religious awakening. It happened quite suddenly and unexpectedly, and to this day I can't explain it except to say that God works in mysterious ways.

I wasn't asking for guidance, and I wasn't even really thinking about Jesus Christ at the time. I was just sitting on my couch when it hit me – the full glory of the love of God. It turned my work in the Christian ministries around overnight.

Before my religious awakening, I was just sort of going through the motions. I would do good work for Christian ministries, but I wasn't really inspired about it. After, however, I felt tireless.

No matter how much I would do, it would never be to too much. I had an almost inexhaustible zeal both for good works and for sharing my faith with others. I studied the Bible with a group, participated in church events, and in general went beyond the call of duty.

I would minister to Christians, atheists, and to a large number of agnostics who hadn't made up their minds about the great questions of the universe. I can't speak for the works of other Christian ministries, but I suspect that many of them have people with similar religious awakenings working inside. Now I understand how so many different people can be inspired by the same experience.

<fb:like href='http://guesswhy.info/2009/03/christian-dating-advice/' send='true' layout='standard' show_faces='true' width='450' height='65' action='like' colorscheme='light' font='lucida+grande'></fb:like>
A lot of my friends are surprised when they find d out that I give out Christian dating advice.

Many of them don't understand it. They wonder why dating advice for Christians would be any different from any other good advice. After all, Christians face many of the same dating issues as Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and members of any other religious group.

Some Christian dating singles extremely devout, of course, but other ones are quite secular. They come from many different denominations, and have many different interests. Some Christian dating singles want to settle down quickly, while others want a fun fling with someone else raised in their faith.

So the question remains, what makes Christian dating advice different from other forms of advice on dating?

In one sense, nothing. Christian dating advice deals with the same dating romance issues as anything else. Sometimes, it can be more conservative than many other sorts of psychological advice for meeting singles, but it doesn't have to be.

In another sense, however, there is a difference. Christian dating advice tries to draw inspiration and guidance from the Bible. Christians may take on the same lessons as members of another faith at the end of the day, but they like to find them in the proper book.

You see, my devout Christian clients like to link every aspect of their life to biblical teaching. Whether they are buying a home, inviting a neighbor over for dinner, finding a college for their daughter, or doing something else entirely, they like to see what the Bible has to say. By coming up with dating advice for Christian singles, I can help them live their lives according to the teaching of the Bible.

The Bible was written a long time ago, and sometimes it is hard to see the relevance to some current issues such as modern dating. By making dating advice for Christians available, I help people continue on their traditions.

Of course, not all Christians agree on dating protocols. Some Christian singles are very modern, preferring to meet romantic interest in the bar, date multiple partners at the same time, and take a casual approach to love and romance. Most of the people I know who seek out Christian dating advice, however, are more traditional than that.

They see dating advice for Christians as a way to stay away from the modern world and have a more conservative lifestyle. I don't judge. I just try to serve my clients as well as I can.

Whether a secular Christian or religious one, you can draw inspiration about love and relationships from the teachings of the Bible. That is the message that I hope my clients draw at the end of the day.

After all, there are literally hundreds of different sects, and each one has a different approach to studying the bible. Nonetheless, there are a few things that are common to most, if not all, approaches to Christian bible study.

One of the most central ones is that the bible is the true word of God. This is a big thing that separates secular historians of the Christian religion from Christian bible scholars. The secular view is that the bible is a bunch of different texts written by different people over thousands of years.

Some of them were written as a way to reinforce the political structure of a particular group, while others were written to reinforce one interpretation or another of the Jewish or early Christian religion.

In Christian bible studies, this whole approach is rejected. They believe that the particular texts which were chosen for inclusion in the new testament are the only ones that matter, for example, and they find other explanations for inconsistencies in the bible.

Although it is possible to take a sort of middle approach, not siding fully with the Christian or secular side, most people tend to stay firmly in one camp or another. That is just the way the scholarly community divides.

Another important distinction between the various Christian bible studies is the approach to community. There are plenty of different ways to read the bible, and a lot of them have to do with who is doing the reading.

A Christian bible study that you take part in with a group will be a very different experience than reading and studying the bible on your own at home. A group orchestrated by a minister will come to different conclusions than one which is organized by a non-hierarchical group of lay people.

And then, there are the different sects of Christianity. Calvinist Christian bible studies will have a much different feel than Catholic ones, for example. They may be reading the same book, but you would not always know it by the strikingly different conclusions they can come to.

Sometimes, different approaches to studying the bible yield interpretations as different as night and day. It just go to show you how malleable books can be. Even with the central book of a religion, there are always multiple “truths” out there.

The key lies in choosing the one that seems right to you.
